PheNode is a scalable, environmental sensor platform that encourages innovation by providing users the freedom to build custom solutions tailored to their unique needs.

  • Customizable – custom sensor options, custom data cleaning
  • Modular – physically reconfigurable for indoor/outdoor operations
  • Scalable sensor area – command a fleet of wireless sensors with a single PheNode
  • API access - stream your data into robust data visualization platforms like Grafana
  • Adaptable – edit the functionality of specific software features, such as automated data normalization preferences, to accelerate your data analyses
  • Physically robust – made from aluminum and other durable, recyclable materials

Expand your measurement range

The wireless sensors can communicate up to 1km away and increase your measurement area by 500+ acres with a single PheNode. These battery-operated, solar-powered sensors placed in representative areas in the field remotely collect data throughout the growing season. These data are then transmitted hourly to the PheNode via LoRaWAN or Bluetooth communication.

PheNode on The Highway

We at The Ray have been utilizing PheNode for about a year and we couldn’t be happier with the performance to date. We have three installed along I-85 in West Central, Georgia at our landscape lab. The landscape lab is a perfect home for the PheNode as we have several experimental plots of wildflowers, grasses and other ground cover species along “The Ray Highway” at exits 6, 14 and the Georgia Visitor Information Center (VIC), which bloom seasonally to create an appealing display for motorists but are leveraged for studying the ecosystem services that roadside meadows of native, perennial plants could deliver. This so-called “Landscape Lab” is a unique testing site for a range of projects designed to advance the mission of net-zero transportation as Zero Carbon and Zero Waste, and is home to pollinator gardens, bioswales, and Kernza® perennial grain plots.will be used for a variety of monitoring functions, including data collection for all Landscape Lab plots. We like that PheNode is equipped with temperature, humidity, light, and air quality sensors. Coupled with wireless connectivity, we can continuously monitor and collect data on environmental conditions within the plots. In time, we will be able to use the data we collect to predict when we should expect the seeds and plants within our plots to germinate. We look forward to being able to add imagery to the PheNode and carbon monitoring in the future. We highly recommend PheNode and continue to grow our relationship with the team!
