The GroundOwl measurement sensor system is a multi-modal, contactless sensing payload that mounts to an ATV, side-by-side, or tractor. It is the backbone innovation powering the SoilMapper platform, measuring soil compaction to a depth of several feet, while also measuring changes in soil texture, carbon content, conductivity and nutrient properties. GroundOwl supports real-time variable depth tillage when combined with compatible tractor and plow configurations.
How GroundOwl™ works
The GroundOwl payload, mounted to an ATV, side-by-side or tractor, is driven over a field. The sensors, combined with new artificial intelligence (AI), build a digital twin of the soil in the cloud. The technology measures how soil varies, producing 16 data points per second and generating more data points in a field than a grower has experienced with any other method of soil analysis.
EarthOptics verifies accuracy in the field by taking a small number of dense physical soil samples. After GroundOwl sweeps the field with its sensors, the data is then transferred to AI, which produces a hyper-accurate, high-resolution map on all soil attributes. AI gets smarter over time so fewer physical samples are required to achieve a high level of accuracy.
Combining physical soil samples with the results from GroundOwl sensor data, EarthOptics delivers high resolution maps with the most accurate total measurements on the market today.
